Safety through quality control

The Kontrollgemeinschaft is the only trade organization to have a tightly organized mystery shopping and testing system for bedding articles: Impartial shoppers anonymously purchase bedding articles which carry the Traumpass label under the supervision of a legal expert. The trap purchases take place in small specialized shops as well as in department store chains, cash and carry markets, mail order businesses etc. The samples will be sent to the Hohenstein Textile Research Institutes, an accredited testing laboratory, where they are then tested.

The feathers and down fillings are tested for their composition. The test determines the fillings’ exact percentages of feathers and down. Moreover, the testing will establish, whether the filling material belongs to class I.

The testing reports issued by the Hohenstein Research Institutes will then be evaluated under the supervision of a legal expert. After this, they will be sent to the competent certification body, DIN CERTCO as well as to the manufacturers involved.

Should any violations occur against the strict standards set by the Kontrollgemeinschaft, the manufacturer will have to face severe penalties up to the withdrawal of the Traumpass licence, according to the severity of the violation.

In this way the Kontrollgemeinschaft ensures a consistent quality standard.
